After a fair few enquiries, we have put together a new specialist course in conjunction with Chalk Springs Trout Fishery in Arundel.
Join us for a day of fly fishing instruction on the gin clear waters of Chalk Springs, where you can see the fish and watch in anticipation how they react to the twitching of your fly. Equipped with a fly rod, X-ray specs (polarized sun glasses) you will learn fly selection, essential knots, how to read the water, casting and the all important retrieve in an attempt to get the trout a bit closer to the table.
The day will also include a foraging walk around the fishery in search of wild plants to join the trout in the kitchen, a variety of taster dishes from Brown and/or Rainbow Trout (let’s see what we catch, yeah?) Sashimi, ceviche, barbecued and hot smoked.
We will also show you how to gut , fillet and treat your fish to the best of their ability for the plate and, more importantly, how to hunt the trout and enjoy the thrill of the chase. Hands down the best fishery I’ve ever been to – the water really is that clear!
Under the guidance of fly fishing instructor Brian Smart who will teach you the delicate art of casting and guest instructor Charlie Butcher, both long-suffering veterans of Chalk Springs. Mr Butcher occasionally manages to pull out beasts like this from the depths of the fishery.
Date: Sunday 12th July
Venue: Chalk Springs Fishery, Arundel, Sussex.
